Neighborhood Meeting/Cookout SUNDAY, Oct. 21, 2-5 pm, SCAPA

Our Fall Neighborhood Meeting/Cookout will be SUNDAY, Oct. 21, 2-5 pm, at
S.C.A.P.A. (400 Lafayette Parkway). Come join us for our Fall Meeting and cookout! Visit with neighbors and meet and hear from 11th District candidates, Jennifer Reynolds and Sandy Shafer. At-large candidates and Amanda Bledsoe, 10th District may also be present as their schedules allow.

 

The PNA board will provide grilled hot dogs, buns, condiments, and chips. Bring a chair and a side dish or dessert to share (optional).

On the program agenda beginning at 3:00 pm are:
• Address to neighbors by candidates from the contested 11th Council district at 3:00 pm
• Update on the ND-1
• Annual elections for the PNA Board
There are openings on the board. If you are interested in helping build a friendly, supportive community, we need you. All households current on their dues will be eligible to vote. Drawings will be held for gift cards to local businesses.

Lafayette’s 75th Celebration This Weekend

Lafayette’s 75th Anniversary will be held this Friday and Saturday.  Hundreds of former alumni are expected to attend.  Picadome Neighbors who are not alumni are also invited. Please help us welcome these guests into our neighborhood by being understanding that there is limited parking for such a large event. Many guests will have to park along our neighborhood streets.

Beginning at 5 pm on Friday, former faculty, staff and alumni will gather in the library to reconnect.  There will be tours available.  There will be a sock hop in the gym where the band will be an alumni band.  On Saturday, 10:30 am, alumni will meet with their respective classes.  At 1 pm, all are invited to attend performances by Lafayette’s band and orchestra.  The master of ceremonies will be Tom Hammond (class of 1962), who is the voice of the Kentucky Derby and a longtime sportscaster for NBC. Former Governors John Y Brown Jr. (Class of 52) and Ernie Fletcher (class of 1969) will speak.
