Current and upcoming road closures:

From the Division of Water Quality :
LEXINGTON, KY. (Aug. 22, 2025) – Beginning Monday, Aug. 25, Vista Street between Rosemont Garden and Picadome Park will be closed to all thru traffic. This is in addition to the recent closure of Picadome Park between Lafayette Parkway and Vista Drive.
These closures are due to sanitary sewer construction. They are expected to last for approximately one month. Residents will be able to access their homes during construction.
Drivers should use Lafayette Parkway, Reed Lane, Pin Oak Drive and Rosemont Garden to detour around the closures.
This work is part of a project to upsize approximately 4500 feet of sanitary sewer line along Wolf Run Creek. Construction is estimated to be finished by the end of 2026. This project is part of the federal consent decree requirements for Lexington to improve its sanitary sewer system.

As Columbia Gas is completing the replacement of gas lines, we are reposting the information regarding the project :

Late last year, the Picadome Neighborhood Association requested a safety audit from Lexington’s Traffic Engineering Division for Clays Mill Road and surrounding areas, prompted by concerns over traffic impacts from a zone change request. Following this, Traffic Engineers conducted a thorough assessment to identify safety issues. Council Member Dave Sevigny, along with a Traffic Engineering representative, attended the June 7 PNA Ice Cream Social and provided an update on planned safety improvements. To enhance pedestrian and traffic safety on Clays Mill Road, the following improvements are planned:
1. Pedestrian-activated crosswalk at Reed Lane on Clays Mill Road. This will feature a traffic light that cycles from yellow to red to safely stop traffic. An island in the middle of Clays Mill Road will provide a refuge for pedestrians crossing. Clays Mill & Reed
2. Pedestrian Crosswalk at Clays Mill/Harrodsburg Road Intersection: A new crosswalk will be added to the existing traffic signal, allowing pedestrians to safely cross both Clays Mill Road and Harrodsburg Road. Harrodsburg & Clays Mill
3. Curbing on McCubbing Drive: Curbing will be installed on both sides of McCubbing Drive where it meets Clays Mill Road to enforce the existing “right turn only” traffic flow.
*All three of these improvements are on a fast track, with an anticipated completion date during Fall, 2024.

Southbend Drive will be closed from June 17 to allow construction of a sanitary sewer line at the creek crossing. The closure is expected to end before August 14, the first day of Fayette County Public Schools. Motorists can detour using Reed Lane, and residents will still have access to their homes during construction. The project is part of the Wolf Run Trunk F Sanitary Sewer Project, which aims to improve Lexington’s sanitary sewers as mandated by a court-ordered consent decree with the EPA. After completion, construction will begin on Trunk G Lafayette Parkway – Southland Drive (see below).
