Clays Mill Road Widening Project Meeting

On February 24, 2016, two members of the Picadome Neighborhood Board, President Ken Davis, and Treasurer Lynne Flynn, attended the LFUCG meeting on behalf of the Picadome Neighborhood to hear about the remainder of the Clays Mill road widening project. 1.7 Miles are already done and an additional 2 miles, From Waco Dr. to Harrodsburg Road, still remain. There are 166 homes that will be impacted.

The city staff provided visuals, handouts, and people able to answer questions about the project. The meeting was very well attended.

The improvements will result in two drive lanes, a center turn lane, sidewalks, bike paths, and storm drains (as opposed to ditches). This should help traffic flow better, and be safer. When totally done, the improvements go all the way from Harrodsburg Road to Man-O-War.

The project is heavily dependent on funding and the timeline from 2016 to 2020 may change if funding changes. There may be multiple projects as opposed to one end to end project.

If all goes how they want it to, without funding interruptions, here is what it looks like. Beginning 2016, appraisers will identify property values, easement access and property acquisition will be negotiated and letters of agreement on financial reimbursement will be created. Where agreement cannot be reached, condemnation procedure will be initiated.

Toward the end of 2017, utility relocations will start.

2018 – 2020 Construction starts and ends.

Clays Mills Road Extension Meeting Tuesday, Feb. 24, 6 PM Lexington Catholic HS

CLAYS MILL ROAD IMPROVEMENT PROJECT

You are invited to a meeting to inform the neighbors about the next phase of the Clays Mill Road improvement will be held at Lexington Catholic High School at 6 PM.  The plan is to have a short presentation (about 15-20 min) followed by an open floor display where there will be three stations set up that guests can visit at their own pace: a design drawing of the corridor (plan view) mounted on the wall; a table with plans identifying easement and right of way needed by LFUCG; and a table with information about water quality protection as it pertains to this project.  CDP will be there with their sub-consultants, so in addition the LFUCG representatives, each of these stations will be well staffed. Our council person Peggy Henson will be there as well.

Thanks to all the neighbors who were able to shovel sidewalks enough for the post office personnel to deliver. Please check on your elderly neighbors during these severe temperatures to be sure they are ok.
