Southbend Drive will be closed from June 17 to allow construction of a sanitary sewer line at the creek crossing. The closure is expected to end before August 14, the first day of Fayette County Public Schools. Motorists can detour using Reed Lane, and residents will still have access to their homes during construction. The project is part of the Wolf Run Trunk F Sanitary Sewer Project, which aims to improve Lexington’s sanitary sewers as mandated by a court-ordered consent decree with the EPA. After completion, construction will begin on Trunk G Lafayette Parkway – Southland Drive (see below).
Wolf Run Trunk F Sewer Replacement – Spring Meadows Dr. to Lafayette Pkwy.

This project will replace and upsize over 3,500 feet of sanitary sewer line along Wolf Run Creek from Spring Meadows Drive to Lafayette Parkway.
- Primary excavation approaching Clays Mill Rd and contractors are working to bore under Southbend Dr.
- Little to no impact is expected on Clays Mill traffic.
- Significant traffic impacts expected on Southbend Drive beginning around the second week of June.
- The Southbend closure is expected to last through the end of July.
- Lafayette Parkway traffic impacts are to be expected in late July and August.
- Completion of the project is scheduled for the fall of 2024.
