Construction at Harrodsburg, Waller, and Mason-Headley

by Hilary Angelucci, aide to Council Member Peggy Henson, District 11

The Harrodsburg Road and South Broadway left turn lanes to Mason Headley and Waller Avenue respectively will be closed Monday to allow for demolition and reconstruction of the Harrodsburg and Broadway medians. Detour signage will be in place for the left turn to Waller.  Once the medians are complete, they will remove the detour and push the lanes towards the medians, which will pretty much make Harrodsburg Rd unobstructed the rest of the project.  The entire project should take about 8 weeks.

The right turn lanes near the corner islands will close, routing them over newly placed temporary paving on the left side of the islands. The outbound right turn lane from Harrodsburg to Mason Headley will close and the lane width will adjust on Waller by St. Joe to construct curbs, accessible ramps and drainage structures, etc.

Once the perimeter areas of the project are finished, the construction team will complete the corner islands shifting right turn traffic back to the right side of the islands. Mason Headley will close the inside left turn onto Harrodsburg while leaving the combo thru and left turn lane open.

The current configuration of the intersection is not pedestrian friendly, much less ADA compliant. This project is intended to address that, making the intersection friendlier to all folks walking in this area.

Please be patient and use extra caution at this intersection.
