Columbia Gas Projects in the Neighborhood

Beginning early August, Columbia Gas will be replacing old deteriorating pipes on the following streets:  McCubbing Drive (510-535), Ridge Road (510-525), Springhill Drive (501-542), and Lafayette Parkway (401-420).  If your home is within the number range for the street, you will be affected.   This project includes establishing connectivity for each home to the new pipe, and relocating gas meters to the outside of houses.  The old pipe will remain in the ground but disconnected. This is preventive infrastructure maintenance and there is no current risk or danger.

Columbia Gas is working hard to minimize impacts.  Laying new pipe through boring underneath the ground, however, some street digging may be needed.

When it comes time to connect, Columbia Gas personnel will ensure that each home is connected properly, a new meter installed, and that all pilot lights are re-lit.  Outage time for a home should be minimal; less than 1 day.

Eventually, this kind of work will be done on other streets but no schedule yet exists.

The PNA will invite Jordan Smith to our next neighborhood meeting – probably late August or Early September, to explain further or answer any questions.
